YOUTH EDUCATION FOR HEALTHY HABITS:
Developing community and educational outreach projects for children, youth, and young adults. The Foundation is pursuing partnerships to educate youth in Guam. This effort would support preventing both pre-diabetes and diabetes amongst a vulnerable population including children, youth, and young adults.
According to data collected by the Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services, the youngest child diagnosed with type II diabetes was 5 years old in 2014. The youngest individual to experience vision loss was 16 years old.
A well-balanced diet and physical activity are both key to protecting youth from developing diabetes symptoms as well as other non-communicable diseases.
